Obituary

The Lexington Progress, November 4, 1932

The Passing: Thomas L. Winslow, third son of the late T. H. and Mrs. Melvina Harris Winslow, was born in Madison County, Tennessee, January 1st, 1876, and died in his home seven miles west of Lexington October 30th, 1932. He was happily married to Miss Hattie White in 1896, and to the union one child, Ruby, was born. Ruby was married in 1924, and died February 7, 1927, leaving a son and daughter. He is survived by his wife and five brothers, Alson, Walter, Robert of Henderson County, Rue of Madison County, and Vance of Tempe, Texas; three sisters, Jennie (Mrs. H.W. Wilson), Fannie (Mrs. W. J. Taylor) both of Henderson County, and Cora (Mrs. O. D. Wilson) of White Oak, Missouri. Of his fathers's brothers, two survive, Guilford of Madison County and Forrest of Lexington.

When I came to Lexington in March, 1884, Tom Winslow was but eight years old and I had known him since his boyhood. He grew into manhood with a good name and I know he prized the good name and kept it untainted. He was my friend, as was his father and many others of the Winslow family and I mourn his loss. Rev. Fleetwood Ball conducted the funeral services with interment in Lexington Cemetery.[1]
