Biography

Samuel was a shipwright.

Samuel was born in 1725, the son of William & (Unknown) Winsor.

He married Rhoda Delano, daughter of Joshua & Hopestill (Peterson) Delano, on 18 Feb 1744/5 at Duxbury, Plymouth, MA

Their children were Nathaniel, Joshua, Samuel II, William, John, James, Rhoda, Elizabeth, a second James & Peter

He passed away in 1770.

Probate

Samuel Winsor of Duxbury, shipwright died intestate and on 6 August 1770, his widow Rhoda was granted the administration of his estate. The estate was represented as insolvent.[1]

His inventory was taken on 6 January 1771 in Duxbury which included 3/4 ownership in the Schooner Unity, and the schooner Fair Lady. A list of claims and creditors was recorded.[2]

In 1771, his widow, Rhoda received her dower.[3] An account of his estate by Rhoda Winsor and Nathaniel Winsor was recorded which included the sale of real estate, doctor in his last sickness, funeral charges, necessaries to the widow, and administration fees. The balance was proportioned to the creditors.[4]

In 1772, an account of his estate by Nathaniel Winsor was recorded which included a claim that was more than allowed, and administration fees. The balance was proportioned to the creditors.[5]
