Biography

Sarah Wise was probably born in 1647 (an unknown source has suggested she was born on 19 Dec 1647), in Roxbury in the Massachusetts Bay Colony.[1] She was the daughter of Joseph Wise and Mary Thompson. Her parents married on 3 December 1641 in New England. Her father died in 1684.

It is probable that Sarah married Captain Stephen Williams in about April of 1666,[2] but at least by 1667, when their first child was born in Roxbury, Suffolk County, Massachusetts Bay Colony.[3]

The Millennium File lists spouse Sarah Wise and her mother as Mary Thompson. Also confirms son Stephen Williams. Lists Captain Stephen Williams b. 1640 and d. 1720.

Stephen Williams was born 8 Nov 1640 in Newton, Massachusetts, he was the son of Robert Williams and Elizabeth Stratton. [4] Stephen Williams was 4th son of Robert Williams "of Roxbury" and Elizabeth Stalham, and the second of his family to be born in the New World. His father Robert came to America in 1637, settled in Roxbury and was admitted a freeman May 2, 1638.

Mary-1043 and Wise-184 appear to represent the same person because: Mary-1043 and Wise-184 are the wife of the same man and both have Mary Williams Choate as a daughter. See the quotation from Torrey on the biography for Unknown Mary (Mary-1043): His wife has apparently been identified on occasion as "Mary," rather than "Sarah." (Unknown Mary should have been created as "Mary Unknown.")
