Notes
Note NI0183There is some confusion over the spelling her middle name which is the name she went by. Her name appears May on the delayed birth certificate her son Milton had to obtain for the draft in 1942. In the newspaper obituary it is spelled Mae. She herself spelled her name, "Mae" in a 1941 Christmas card and in a 1953 letter, both sent to Milton and Hazel Faupel. Wilma Faupel/Paulsen says that she preferred the spelling, May, because that was her favorite month of the year when she could plant her flowers.
