Biography
Many genealogists identify Polly as "Polly Witt", citing an 1808 Goovhland County Virginia marriage record. [1] At a minimum Polly Witt cannot be the mother of Josephs children, since those children were born well before 1808. In addition, land records show that Joseph was living in what is now Mercer County, Kentucky as early as 1781. [2] Tax records also place him there in 1800. [3]
