Carolyn Sue Witt Herald was born in Corbin, KY, went to grades 1-12 there and graduated HS in 1959. She attended Berea College, Berea, KY, where she graduated with a BA in Chemistry in 1963. She moved to Lexington, KY, in 1964, worked at UK for 40 years and retired in 2004. She now lives in Lexington, KY.
