Malinda (Linney) Witt was born about 1780 in Virginia (probably Amherst County), the daughter of David Witt, Sr. and Sarah (Sally) Abney.
Linney likely died in Braxton County, Virginia, after 25 June1860, based on her 1860 census[1].
Malinda married Daniel Wade/Waid on 4 October 1798 in Amherst County, Virginia[2]. Malinda's father was identified as David Witt and Daniel's mother was identified as Nancy Morriss [sic].
The following 12 children have been attributed to Linney and Daniel, but often lacks sourcing, although census adjacency supports the relationship, in some cases[3]:
1850[4]: Daniel and Malinda were living in Nelson Co., Virginia. They are 71 and 70 years old, respectively, and both born in Virginia. Daniel is a farmer. Their son Hardin is living next door. Three pages later is the family of Dennis and Lucinda Wade.
1860[5]: Living in Braxton County, Virginia (became W. Virginia in 1863). They are 81 and 80 years, respectively, born in Virginia. Daniel is a farmer and their personal estate value is $15 (no real estate value). Thier daughter Perlina (Wade) Eubanks is living next door.
In 1849, Linney and her husband, Daniel Wade, challenged her father's will in Nelson County, Virginia[6]. The challenge names her siblings, including some of their spouses and children. It also identifies those whom were deceased at the time of the litigation. The original document can be found in the Images tab for Linney and her siblings[7].
