Less than half an hour drive from Grahamstown towards Kenton-on-Sea, one finds the delightful little Settler village of Salem. Nestling in the Assegai Valley, amidst thorn scrub and aloes, this quaint town has changed little since the 1820’s. Many of the houses in the village are original Settler homes, lovingly restored and maintained. The village evolved around the village green where the traditionally English game of cricket was played, and is still played today. Situated around the field are the two churches, one built in 1832 and the other in the 1850’s
