George was born in Alsace-Lorraine, the namesake of his father George Wolf. George was married at least twice... at least once before he came to America and once after. In 1736 in Alsace he was married to an Elizabeth, who bore him four children, Michael, George, Daniel, and Jacob.
Conflicting info names a Maria Meyer as the mother of George's children.
In 1751, George and his family came to America to avoid religious persecution. On 4 Oct 1751 George, his wife, and sons George and Jacob arrived in Philadelphia aboard the ship 'Queen of Denmark' (George Parish, Commander) from Rotterdam (page 256-7 of the "COLLECTION"). A Daniel Wolf Sr., also noted to be on the ship, is mostly likely an erroneous entry for their other son, who by later accounts was also on the journey. Their son Michael (their eldest) arrived two weeks later aboard the ship 'Duke of Whittenburg' through the same port.
Elizabeth apparently died shortly after their arrival, and George married Catherine Dierhammer in 1752 in Easton, Northampton, Pa. On April 10th 1760 he became a naturalized citizen of America. He resided in Haines Township, Northampton County, Pa., was a member of the Zion Reformed Church, and was a captain in the American Revolution. He was known by many as "George Wolf, the elder". He wrote his will in 1779, in which he made his son George Jr. his executor. His will was executed in 1790 after his death.
In the Northcumberland County Deed Book A there are two mentions of George. First indenture in which George buys 247 acreas from Eli Holeman. Second dated 1790 is another indenture and list him as a widower
