Helen Emiline Wolfe Reed, passed away in her sleep at her Cumberland residence, Sunday July 15. She was 82.

The mother of three, grandmother of seven, and great-grandmother of six cared deeply about three things in her life: her family, great celebrations, and politics.

She was born in Orange County, Indiana, May 24, 1926, to Grover and Elda (Wells) Wolfe, the youngest of seven children.

She grew up on the family farm in Paoli and was a 1944 graduate of Paoli High School and a heck of a shortstop.

Earning her realtor license in 1956, she owned and operated Reed Realty and was active as a real estate broker until 1990. From 1986 through 1988, she was a Veterans Administration housing compliance inspector.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilford C. Reed, to whom she was married from 1946 to 1976.

Also preceding her in death were her parents; brothers, Curtis Wolfe, Dennis Wolfe, and Lewis Wolfe; and sisters, Gayle Wolfe Mullin and Farrell Wolfe Mullin.

Helen is survived by sons, Don (Debi) Reed of New Palestine and Jim (Patty) Reed of New Palestine; daughter, Sandie (fiancé, Jeff Kenny) Reed of Greenfield; grandchildren, Lori (Ralph) Walker, Toby (Jon) Angelopulos, Wendy (James) Ault, Joni (Mike) Stevens, Zoe (fiancé, Zak Dorsey) Reed, Josh Reed, and Jami Reed; great-grandchildren, Chelsea Walker, Jacob Ault, Briahna and Logan Angelopulos, and Owen and Samuel Stevens. Other survivors include brother, Howard Wolfe; nieces, Gayle Boyles, Janice Clawson, Darla Wolfe, and Carolyn Ambrose; nephews, Pete Wolfe, Alvin Campbell, Duane Wolfe, Mark Mullin, and many great nieces and nephews.

Services were Friday, July 20th, at Erlewein Mortuary, Greenfield.

Burial followed at Memorial Park Cemetery.
