Biography

Abner was born in January 1764 in Prince Edward County, Virginia. He is the son of Abraham Womack and Elizabeth Unknown. He passed away on 14 February 1845 in Bowling Green, Butler, Kentucky.

Abner Womack fought in the Revolutionary War as a Private and received a pension while living in Butler County, KY. His pension application reveals he was born in 1764. The Revolutionary War Pension Payment Ledger as of September 1848 indicates the pension began on 4 March 1831 and ended with Abner's death on 14 February 1845.[1]

Abner married Agnes Nancy Reed on September 24, 1787 in Lincoln County (became Gaston in 1846), North Carolina.[2] Witness to the Marriage Bond was Jo Dickson and bondsman was John Reed, probably Agnes' father.[3]

Abner appears on the 1790 Census in Lincoln County, North Carolina, not far from his father, Abraham Womack. In his household are 1 male over age 16 (Abner), 1 male under age 16, and 2 females. [4]

From at least 1810 Abner and his family lived in Butler County, Kentucky.[5] Abner is listed as a Revolutionary War Veteran on the 1840 Census, age 76.[6]

Abner was named in his father's will dated 4 August 1803 in Lincoln County, North Carolina.[7]
