Biography

Lizzie Louise was born on 8 December 1891 at Quinton, Worcestershire, the daughter of Thomas Wood and Louisa Harwood.

Lizzie Louise Wood married Herbert Whyle on 3 April 1920 at Christ Church, The Quinton, Worcestershire. Their marriage certificate recorded Herbert was a bachelor aged 29 and a motor mechanic. His father was named as Benjamin Whyle, a labourer. Lizzie was a spinster aged 28. Her father was named as Thomas Wood, a clerk. At the time of their marriage Herbert was living at home with his family at 143 New John Street and Lizzie was living at The School House, Quinton. Their witnesses were Albert Edward Williams, Eva Catherine Wood and Thomas Wood.

This couple had one son named Douglas Sydney Whyle, born 12 May 1921.

Douglas attended Quinton Church School, Worcestershire commencing in 1926.

The 1939 Register, taken on 29 September 1939, has been described as a snapshot of the civilian population of England and Wales just after the outbreak of the Second World War. The Register recorded each person's address, date of birth and occupation.
