Heir followis the sentence gevyn be the Superintendent and ministerie in favoris of Alexander Cwnynghame, anent the adheryng of Cristen Wod to hym as to hyr lawfull husband, nochtwythstandyng the sentence of divorce, procurit be hyr in Papisticall maner, fundyn nul, becaws it is al wryttyn into ane buk be the self remanand wyth Regester, &c.

Wyth incalling of the name of Crist Jesus, Sone of the eternall and ever levying God, qujai is the waye the verite and the lyff, to wytnes wyth our consciences, we, Master Johan Wynram, Superintendent, &c., minister and eldaris of the reformed kyrk and cite of Sanctandrois, in takyng cognicion in the complaynt and peticion of Alexander Cwnynghame, fear of Wast Bernis, proponit befoyr the said ministerie, allegiand that Cristian Wod, wyth quhom he contracted and solemnizat mariaige in the face of the kyrk, had passed fra hym wythowtyn ony hust caus, had remanit fra hym be the space of twa yearis or tharby, and wald nocht adheir to hym as to hyr lawful husband wythowt sche be compelled, desyring hyr to be caused to adheir to hym according to the law of God, and owr autorite quhilk we have of the law of God to be tharto interponit.

The said Cristian heirto laufullie summond and comperand,the forme of the said peticione red, sche confessed the mariaige foyrsaid, and for stop of desyr of adheryng be hyr to Alexander, be waye of excepcione, proponit and alleged sche wes divorciat fra Alexander and ane tharupone gevyn. In discussing of the quhilk excepcione, we have procedit in examinacione of the said allegit divorciment proces and sentence tharof, in divers and syndry dietis, the said Cristian therto lawfully at all tym summond, all lawfull defensis admittit to bayth the saidis parteis.

And now finalie, the peticion of the said Alexander, ansuer of Cristen, proces, sentence of the said allegit divorce, rychtis, juris, ressonis, allegacions, probacionis, testimoneis and deposicionis of certan famos wytnessis, and all otheris producit and deducit in the said cawa befoyr us be bayth the saidis parteis, be us seyn, hard, considerit and ryplie understand, together wyth the testimonye of the trew and eternall Word of God: we fynd that the saidis Alexander and Cristiane have contracted and solemnizat matrimonye in the face of the kyrk, and ar jonit in the band of matrimonye; and at the divorciment, proponit be waye of excepcione be the said Cristiane for hyr defence and to stop hyr adheryng to the said Alexander, is and wes fra the begynnyng nul, invalis, and na caws to stopn the said Cristiane to adheir to the said Alexander as to hyr lawfull husband, becaws the pretendit sentence of the said alleged divorciment wes pronuncit into ane privat and prohane hows...
