Biography
Ella is youngest of 4 siblings. She grew up in a house just 1 mile north of Coats Grove MI. Her mom, Ida would feed the indians white sugar cookies, when they were walking to Charlton Park. Ella was a grad of Hastings HS and 1 year extra for Normal (Teaching Certificate) in Hastings MI. Rode the CK&S RR from Coats Grove, Must have met Wayne O going to HS as they rode the same train. Taught one year in Yankee Springs, then room & Board at Offley Farm while teaching at Wellman School, 3/4 mile South of Farm at the road intersection. . Rumor has it that she was named Sarah Ella but never liked the name. Few knew her real name if true.
