Myrtle was born in 1898 to Rufus Wood and Amanda Buckner. Her mother died in 1906, when Myrtle was 7. She was her husband's (William Harrison) second of three wives, and some believe they never divorced when he married for the third time. Her two sons died within five months of each other in 1976. Myrtle passed away in 1982 at 83 years old.

William Harrison killed Patrick King at Edensville, Mo. Harrison went to prison at Jefferson City, Mo. as did his brother Carl, who was also in on the murder. Patrick King is buried at the O'Malley cemetery. Harrison was tried in Texas Co. and Carl in Phelps Co. MO.
Myrtie went to Western Kansas and lived with her Aunt Cenith Buckner Grace and then moved to Hutchson, KS where she lived and died. She had two sons by William Harrison. They were Roy Houston Mitchell and Guy Melven Mitchell, both have passed away.[1]
