OLD RESIDENTS MOUR PASSING AWAY HERE OF MRS. REBECCA HOWARD
Old residents of the Globe district yesterday paid tribute to the memory of Mrs. Rebecca Howard who died from heart failure Saturday morning. They expressed the deepest sorrow at the passing away of the pioneer woman was held in the deepest respect by everyone who knew her and recalled many touching tales of good deeds she had done for those about her.
Mrs. Howard came to Globe in 1882 and two years later her husband died leaving her with a large family to support. She faced the situation bravely and not only provided for her own but for many others who needed assistance as well.
Sons, daughters, granchildren and great grandchildren living at various points in Arizona, New Mexico and Washington survive, Mrs. Howard. Seventeen relatives were present at the funeral. There were two sons, Raymond and Joseph Howard, four daughters, Mrs. Eliza Buker, Mrs. Raymond Howard and Mrs. and Mrs. Lohman, whose names were inadvertently omitted from the list of relatives in a previous account of Mrs. Howard's death expect to return to their homes in Kelvin today. Joseph Howard will accompany Mrs. Mary Adams and her children to Troy for an extended visit. Mrs. Buker will return to her home in Phoenix. Mrs. W.E. Tuttle, a granddaughter, will remain with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fields until Saturday when she will return home.
