William was a son of John and Mary Wood. He married Eliza Parsons on 3 September 1801 in Alexandria, Virginia. They had three children. William wrote his will on 2 February 1822. It was produced at court on 21 May 1822.[1] William died on 8 May 1822.

DIED,
Yesterday afternoon, in the 45th year of his age, MR. WILLIAM WOOD, a clerk in the Bank of the Potomac, and a respectable citizen of this place. His funeral will take place this Evening at 5 o'clock, from his late residence on Duke-street.[2]
