In 1851, Elizabeth was living with her mother and two sisters in Newhaven. By 1861, the rest of her family are living in Hailsham by the market square where her father is running the Jolly Sailor pub. But Elizabeth is still in Newhaven, working as a housemaid for Henry Martin and his wife Ruth. She is listed on census as Henry's sister, but given that Henry was seventy, and Elizabeth seventeen (or actually sixteen) that is not possible!
But given that Amos Harriott would end up leaving Newhaven and marrying Elizabeth's daughter Lucy in Surrey,[1]
Note
↑ I would not be surprised if Elizabeth was related to Henry Martin & that Henry was somehow connected to Amos. Amos' grandmother also was a Martin. D. Rutherford.
