Wyley Wood was born "Robert Wiley Wood" in Minudie, Nova Scotia, Canada, on January 22, 1868, the son of Alonzo Wood and Matilda Jane Finley.^[1][2][3]

He married Norah Hopey, daughter of Charles and Eliza Hopey, of St. Martins, New Brunswick, Canada, in Elgin, New Brunswick, Canada, on May 24, 1891.^[2]

In 1911, Wyley, his wife and ten children were living in Westmorland County, New Brunswick, Canada, where Wyley was a farmer.^[4]
