They made their home in Matthews Township, Arkansas,[3] where Henry farmed on his own account. He registered for the World War I draft when he was 28, registering in Palarm Township, Arkansas on June 5, 1917.[4] He stated that he lived on Rural Farm District #2 in Vilonia, Arkansas and that he worked for himself as a farmer, farming in Palarm Township. Henry was described as a man of medium height and build with dark hair and blue eyes; he did not enlist.
By 1920, Henry was hospitalized at the Arkansas State Hospital for Nervous Diseases in Rock Township, Arkansas[5] which, by 1940, was a part of Little Rock, Arkansas.[6][7]
Henry Wood died away at Arkansas State Hospital in Little Rock, Arkansas,[8] at the age of 73,[9] having suffered a bad outcome from surgery for a hip fracture. He is buried at Marcus Hill Cemetery in Enola, Arkansas.[10]
