William was born in 1835 in Pennsylvania, two years after his parents and two older sisters emigrated from Wales. The family returned to Wales after William’s next younger sibling, John, was born. Then in 1839, they all returned to the United States. They all lived in Pennsylvania. And William met and married Mary Ann Brent. All of William and Mary Ann’s children were born in Pennsylvania. Later in life William and Mary Ann and their children moved to Virginia.
