Biography

Joseph was born 7/29/1849. He was the son of Levi Wood Hannah (Foulke) Heacock


He married Ruth HInshaw on September 26, 1872 in Henry County, Indiana.[1]

He passed away in 1929 Joseph Wood Is Dead At Shirley," The Greenfield Daily Reporter 26 Aug 1929: 1. Print. His will was probated in September of 1929, having been executed on January 18, 1915."Joseph H. Wood Will Probated," The Greenfield Daily Reporter 11 Sep 1929: 1. Print.


From obit: Survived by one daughter: Bessie Cooper; sister Alice McClelland; brothers Jockley and Sumner. Was 79 years old.
from will article: all proceeds to widow, Ruth. 100 acre farm to be sold to pay any and all debts. Proceeds divided between two daughters and grandson, Gilbert Wood.

He was about the first white child born in Henry County, IN. He had to clear lots of land so he could raise corn, & other crops, & pigs. Had 80 acres. Was a Masonic leader.

They celebrated their 50 th anniversary 1922. I have the invitation.
