Martha Wood was baptized on 8 April 1612 at Halifax, Yorkshire, England;[1]the daughter of Edmund Wood of Shelf in Halifax, Yorkshire, and his wife Martha Lum, daughter of William Lum.[1]

Martha's siblings were:[1]

  1. Jonas Wood who was baptized in Halifax on Sept. 18, 1614. m. Elizabeth Strickland by about 1640. Elizabeth was the daughter of John Strickland.
  2. Susannah Wood was baptized at Halifax on March 23, 1616. She married Samuel Clark about 1640.
  3. Jeremiah Wood was baptized at Halifax on January 6, 1619/20. He married Elizabeth __?__ by about 1641. It is possible her name was Elizabeth Smith, sister of James and John Smith "Nan." If this is accurate it would make her the stepdaughter of Richard Gildersleeve.(see continuance of note at source.
  4. Timothy Wood who was baptized at Halifax on July 14, 1622. He married a daughter of John Strickland by about 1649. The first name of this daughter is unknown.

Wood-2272 and Wood-6129 appear to represent the same person because: These appear to be the same person. "Martha" is one nickname for Margaret, and the spouses' surnames match. Lome/Lum are also interchangable in some records.
