John Wood was born at Littleton, Massachusetts on February 3, 1719, son of Jeremiah and Dorathy (Benet) Wood. [1][2]
He married Lydia Davis on October 19, 1743, at Harvard, Massachusetts. [3] Lydia was born September 7, 1724 at Concord, Massachusetts, daughter of Ebenezer and Sarah Davis. [4]
John died April 8, 1758 in his fortieth year. [1][2][5]
He died intestate and in the settlement of the estate of John Wood, the heirs were, John Wood, Timothy Wood, Ebenezer Wood, Salmon Wood, and Lydia Davis. Lydia (Davis) Woods brother, Zadok Davis, was guardian for John and Timothy. [2][6]
Lydia married Capt. David Goodridge of Fitchburg on May 21, 1765 at Littleton. [1][2] David died at Fitchburg, Massachusetts in 1786. [7]
Lydia died on January 13, 1792 [1] and her epitaph reads: In memory of Mrs Lydia Wood wife of Mr John Wood and late wife to Dea David Goodridge of Fitchburg who died Jan y 13 1792 aged 67 years 4 months and six days[2]
In the distribution of the Lydia's personal property in 1792, she remembered her four sons by John Wood, and her granddaughter Sarah Gary, and gave six shillings each to the six brothers of Sarah Gary. [2]
