Biography

Elizabeth was the 4th of 8 children born of Ebenezer Wood (1698-1789) and his wife Mary Rudd (1696-1757). Elizabeth's sibling were: Mary (b. 1719-1809), Lydea (b. 1720), Bulah (b. 1722), Ebenezer (1726-1796), Nathaniel (b. 1729), John (1731-1810), and Ether (b. 1734).

Elizabeth married, July 17, 1744 at Norwich, New London County, Colony of Connecticut, Jonathan Eastman (1717-1807) by whom she had 14 children (9 sons and 5 daughters): Lydia (1745-1796), Barsheba (b. 1746), Enoch (1748-1829), Cyprian (1749/50-1798), Jonathan (1753-1816), Peter (b. 1754), Stephen (1755-1819), Esther (1757-1837), Miriam (1758-1839), Calvin (1760-1856), Oliver (b. 1762), Amos (1763-1864), Justin (1764-1772), and Amy (1766-1853).

Research Notes

At one point Elizabeth Wood was shown as married to Jonathan Zekerie Eastman. Sources show she was married to Jonathan Eastman, another great-grandsons of the immigrant Roger Eastman. The problem is that for Elizabeth to be married to both Jonathans, she would have had to have married Jonathan Zekerie first and then divorced him because Jonathan Eastman outlived Jonathan Zekarie by quite a few years and the children the Jonathan Zekerie's wife Martha appear to overlap those of Elizabeth Wood. This implies that they were never married and should be disconnected, expecially since there is no source associating Jonathan Zekerie Eastman with Elizabeth Wood.
