Biography

Martha Ann Wood was born in 1828 to Carlton Holland Wood and Freelove Sage. The Wood family lived in Millers Corners, Rensselaer County in upstate New York, United States, adjacent to the Finger Lakes. She is a direct descendant of Doctor Samuel Fuller who was a passenger on the Mayflower in 1620. Her great-grandfather, Benjamin Wood, and her grandfather, Barnabus Wood, both served in the American Revolution.

By 1886 the family had moved from Illinois to Kansas.

By 1914, Martha was a widow and lived with her daughter Allie and son-in-law Orla Casad in Pittsburg, Kansas at 208 W. 9th Street. The house has since been demolished.

DNA - My name is Leila Teresa Phelps and Martha Ann Wood is my 2x Great-Grandmother. Her daughter Allie Babcock is my Great-Grandmother. I have DNA matches with 2 lines of descent from her brother, George Babcock. The common ancestor for all of us is Martha Ann Wood. That is a DNA match. (I don't like wikitree's official format for DNA matching, so I'm ignoring it.)
