Biography

Amory is usually referred to as "Capt. Amory Wood" and has some military records available in relation to the War of 1812. If anyone has more, please share!

I'm still trying to sort this whole name business out, it appears as "Emery" on the transcripts of his Uxbridge, MA baptism record (Mar 27 1768), but by the time he marries Patience it changes to "Amory", and on his headstone it's written as "Amory E". Perhaps they changed it later to avoid confusion? There are at least 2 other children named Emory born in MA. I've seen Amory's mother's name written as Tipporah or Tipperary instead of Zipporah but I believe that is due more to errors than anything (if they attempt to spell it at all, sometimes it's just ____?).
