William John Wood, son of James Wood and Sophia Clark, was born on 20 Jul 1874 in Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.[1]

In the 1881 census William (age 6) was the grandson of Marion Clark in Ayton, Berwickshire. He was a Scholar.[2]

Possible 1891 census - In the 1891 census William (age 16) was the nephew of George L Purves at 2 Robertsons Bank, Borthwick, Midlothian. He was a Coal Miners Labourer.[3]

William John Wood's marriage to Georgina McKenzie Swan was registered in 1894 in St Andrew (Edinburgh).[4]

In the 1901 census William (age 27) was the head of household at 4 Glenorchy Pl, Edinburgh Greenside, Midlothian. He was a Furnaceman.[5]


William John Wood's death (age 64) was registered in 1939 in Canongate and Portobello, Edinburgh.[6]

So much has been changed from the original which came via my second cousin who lives in Edinburgh that I am far from surprised at the issue on the date, per Linda carruthers. I thank you for the sourced information that you recently presented .
