James was a minister of the Society of Friends for about 20 years.

On March 31, 1772 James requested a certificate from Wrightstown Monthly Meeting for him and his family to the Chester Monthly Meeting at Providence.

Wills: Abstracts 1789-1834 - James Wood: Delaware County, PA Delaware County, Wills, 1789-1834 WOOD, JAMES, Newtown. December 27, 1806 - December 14, 1810. Lot by WORRALL lane adjoining line of Jacob EDWARDS in Providence Twp. now occupied by son James to grandson James WOOD, hatter, chargeable with care of his father and mother. Three daughters Mary PARSONS, Sarah GILLINGHAM and Rebeckah WATERMAN, grandson, William WOOD son of William, granddaughter Sarah COATES. Final distribution mentions 4 sons Mathew, John, Aaron and Septimus. Exrs: Sons Mathew and John. Wits: Townsend THOMAS, Beulah E. THOMAS and Jacob WOOD. #336.[engle-cloud.FTW]
