Biography

Mary Woodcock was born in 1800, probably in Portland Township, Frontenac County, daughter of Abraham Woodcock and Katharine Peterson. She was baptized 29 September1801 in Fredericksburgh, Lennox County. In 1819 she married William John Wood in Kingston. They had probably two children in Loughborough Township, Frontenac County. In 1827 she petitioned for land on the basis of her United Empire Loyalist father . Around 1830 she married Garrett Isaac Cool (Coole, Cole), a shoemaker. They are recorded for six children born in the 1830s in Hastings County and (at least 1833-1836) in the United States. In 1861 and 1871 they were in Hungerford Township, Hastings County. Garrett died in 1871 in Hungerford. Reportedly Mary died in 1877 (primary source not seen).

Children by Mary's first marriage include David (1823-1900), who married (Mary) Magdalena Thompson, and David (b 1820s), who married Isaiah Thompson.
