Notes
He died 17 March 1896 age 43 years, 1 month, 1 day.
From Aunt Tina's letter (1950's):
"...Robert Woods from Skelmersdale [near Liverpool in Lancashire Co.] took a room with them. He was learning the stonecutter's trade.Grandmother died during this time and he persuaded my mother [Margaret Mitchell] to marry him. Tho mother wasn't quite willing at the time, he convinced her it was the only thing to do because she had two younger sisters to look after. Well she did, mother didn't think he lived up to the agreement of looking after the younger children but then it was too late for her to do much about it. "
"...father was restless, and I suspect, not too well. So he went to America. Mother refused to come for a year or more and continued to run her two stores with help. However, father I believe returned and said if she did not come to America, then must stay alone, for he would never live in England again - it was too damp and cold."
