Frederick Woods was born in Staffordshire, England.

Frederick was born in Tunstall, Staffordshire, England, in 1890.^[1] His birth was registered in the third quarter in Wolstanton. He was the son of George Woods and Sarah Cartlidge. He was baptized on August 17, 1890, in Newchapel, Staffordshire, at St James.^[2] He was enumerated in the 1891 census ^[3] as an infant under one year old residing with his family on Fourth Street, Wolstanton. He was the youngest of seven children. In 1901, ^[4] he was one of five children residing with his parents in Chell (Registration District Wolstanton). His father passed away sometime after 1901. In 1911, ^[5] Frederick was living with his widowed mother in Chell. He stated he was twenty, single, and a "Coal Miner Hewer". His brother James, sister in law Caroline, and nephew James also at residence.

Frederick passed away in 1921.^[6] His death was registered in the fourth quarter in Wolstanton. He was thirty one.
