Biography

Mary (Woods) Dewhurst was born in Quebec, Canada.

Frances was born 22 Sept 1899^[1] to Thomas Woods, and possibly Elizabeth MacDonald.

Her family lived at Ottawa, Ontario^[2][3]where she married Ferdinand Augustus Dewhurst on 8 Nov 1921.^[4][5][6]

Fred and Frances had a daughter, Colleen, while living in Montréal, Québec and later moved to the US Midwest when she was 5^[7] first at Weymouth, Massachusetts^[8]and Whitehurst, New York where he was president of "retail Chain of confectionary stores".^[9]

Mary and Fred settled in Wisconsin^[10] and she is found in the 1950 census two times; the first time listed on April 15th, as Margaret S, age 49, born in Wisconsin, working as a salesclerk for a retail drug store^[11]; the second time being at an apartment on North Prospect, listed as separated, at age 51.^[12]

She died in 1957.^[13]

Research Notes

No birth or baptism record found in the Drouin Collection. According to the 1901 Census, she was born on September 22, 1899. Online trees at Ancestry attribute her mother as Elizabeth MacDonald.

Death

• Several online trees indicate Frances died on April 1, 1942 in Whitefish Bay, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Unable to locate source for this date.

• 1950 census debunk the 1942 death dates, but no obituaries found in newspapers.com nor death records.
