Charles S Woodward was born on 21 August 1808.[1] He was the first child born in what is known today as Mount Hope, Orange County, New York. He was the son of Benjamin Woodward. and Mary Van Auken[1]
Charles first married [first name unknown] Finch.
He second married Sarah Swartwout on 28 July 1842 in New York, New York.[1] They had the following children:[1]

For a while, Charles and his family lived in Lumberland, Sullivan County, New York where he had a store. They also resided in the Town of Tusten after it was formed in 1853 from a portion of Lumberland.[2] They moved back to Mount Hope in 1856. Their home was on Mount Hope Road.
Charles died on 6 August 1883.[1] He was buried in Mount Hope Plains Cemetery, Otisville, Orange County, New York.
