Biography

James Madison Woodward was born in 1818. He was the son of Asa Woodward and Susannah Wiggins.

He married Precilla Prusha (White) Woodward. (b. 8-29-1822, d. 1-19-1904, buried at Zion's Rest Cemetery, Jasper County, MS). It is thought that he died in a hospital from battle injuries. [Biographical information provided by Diane Grey.]

An 1850 Census of Clark County, Mississippi lists James Woodard 32 b. 1818 South Carolina and his wife Priscilla 27 b. 1823 South Carolina. They have four children living with them who were all born in Mississippi; [1]

James died in 1862. He was buried at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Vicksburg, Warren County, Mississippi, USA. Find A Grave: Memorial #13191585

Son of Asa and Susanna Wiggins Woodward, he married Priscilla White (b. 8-29-1822, d. 1-19-1904, who was buried at Zion's Rest Cemetery, Jasper County, MS). It is thought that he died from battle injuries. According to the Sexton's Report, he died in the Vicksburg City Hospital. [Biographical information provided by Diane Grey and K. Brister.]
