August 17, 16XX -- William Woolley {sic} was born at Shrewsbury, [Monmouth County, Province of New Jersey.]. He was a son of John Woolley {sic}. [1]

June 17, 1688 -- William Wooley was born at Shrewsbury, Monmouth County, Province of New Jersey. He was a son of John Wooley and Mercy Potter. [2]

Calculating the date of birth by the modern Gregorian Calendar William Wooley was born on 27 Aug. Under the Julian Calendar the 6th month was August. Add 10 days and that equals 27 Aug. The year of his birth is not provided by the Shrewsbury MM Minutes 1674-1895.[3][4]

William Wooley and Ruth Lippincott married at ?? She was a daughter of Remembrance and Margaret (Barber) Lippincott. Ruth Lippincott was born on October 6. 1691 at ?? [5]

William Wooley and Ruth Lippincott had four children: three daughters (Amy, Mary, and Margaret) and one son (James).

  1. Amy Woolley born May 17, 1710. Married Ezekiel Allen on February 10, 1731.
  2. Mary Woolley married James Corlies after February 10, 1731.
  3. Margaret Woolley married Josiah Parker on March 30, 1743.
  4. James Woolley born March 1718. Married Catherine Woolley by license dated January 14, 1747. Died 1793.

will of William Woolley, Sr., proven March 22, 1769. In the will, he states "Daughter, Margret, wife of Josiah Parker, £300. Granddaughter, Elizabeth Parker, £5." I am also finding numerous references to the wife of William Woolley, Sr., as being one Ruth Lippincott.

1761, March 10. Woolley, William, Sr., of Shrewsbury, Monmouth Co., yeoman; will of. To my only son, James, all my lands and $100. Grandson, William Woolley, my cane. Granddaughter, Patience Woolley, £5. Daughter, Amey Allen, £50. Daughter, Mary, now wife of James Corlies, £10. Granddaughter, Elizabeth, now wife of Jacob Hance, £40. Granddaughter, Margaret, now wife of Michale Price, £30. To the other 4 children of my daughter, Mary, viz., William, Mary, James and George, £7 each. Daughter Mary, to have the interest of £200, as long as she remain the wife of James Corlies; but, if he die, then the £200 to be paid to her, and, if she die, before her husband, then the £200 to be paid to her 6 children. Daughter, Margret, wife of Josiah Parker, £300. Granddaughter, Elizabeth Parker, £5. Executors—friends. Job Cook and Richard Lawrence (merchant). Witnesses—Vincent White, Joseph Allen, Philip Lewis.
