George Chapman Wooten was a farmer and coal miner who lived in Kentucky and Ohio. He married Mary J. Chapman who he was distantly related to. Mary had one child, a daughter (Louisa) from her first marriage to Nelson McClure. Mary appears to have brought Louisa with her to her new household with George, as Louisa was still living with them at 11 years old in the 1870 census. Mary and George went on to have more children, including their son Jefferson, who later moved with them to Ohio and married there. George died June 1st 1903 in Ohio of intestinal cancer. Mary lived until 1920 and at some point after George's death moved back to Kentucky, where she died of pneumonia at about 80 years old.
