Biography

Source 1: Grant H. Worden, 84, passed away at his home following a long illness on Friday, October 9, 1998.

He was born on September 26, 1914, in Walworth, the son of the late Gilman and Martha (nee: Featherstone) Worden. On October 28, 1939, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Union Grove, he was united in marriage to Edna Wilks. They moved to Kenosha in 1950.

He was educated in the schools of Walworth, and graduated from Walworth High School. He worked as a farmhand as a young man and later after moving to Kenosha, worked as a machine operator at American Motors Corporation for 30 years, retiring in 1979. He was a member of St. Mary's Lutheran Church in Kenosha, and also was active in the Friendly Center, Local 72 Reitrees, and the Kenosha Senior Citizen Center and was a member of the Eagles Club of Kenosha. He was an avid gardener and farmer. He also loved to travel with his wife throughout the country.

Survivors include his wife at home; two sons, Lloyd (Linda) of Columbia, S. C. and Ken (Joan) of Middleton; four grandchildren; and one great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Dale; and one sister, Mabel Wilks.

Funeral services for the late Grant H. Worden will be held from St. Mary's Lutheran Church on Tuesday, October 13, 1998, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Thomas Lee officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at St. Mary's Lutheran Church on Tuesday morning from 9 a.m. until time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appriciated to St. Mary's Lutheran Church or the Kenosha Hospice Alliance.
