Adora A. Worden, 89, Bonner Springs, died Friday, Sept. 23, 2005. Visitation and services were held Tuesday at the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home, Bonner Springs. Private burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Joseph, MO.
Mrs. Worden was born Nov. 6, 1915, in Rosendale, Mo., to Irvin V. and Myrtle S. Graff. She graduated from Stewartsville, Mo., High School in 1933. As a young woman, she operated her own beauty salon and later worked for years in retail sales for Merle Norman Cosmetics. A strong Christian throughout her life, she was active in Scouting, Christian Women's Fellowship, numerous church activities, and later in life, in volunteer service at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Okla.
She enjoyed a life filled with many new places (Little Rock, Ark.; Springfield, Mo.; Tulsa, Okla.; and Hutchinson, Kan.), new faces and adventure. At age 88, she eagerly took a spin in a dune buggy. She loved to eat out (her "hobby"), sit outside and partake of nature, play Skip-Bo, attend shows in Branson, Mo., and, most important, spend time with her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Lorin C. Worden. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Gary G. and Lola Worden, Bonner Springs; and Larry D. and Carmen Worden, Cape Fair, Mo.; a brother and sister-in-law, Hug G. and Norma Graff, Independence, Mo.; a sister-in-law, Bernice Crosswhite, Stewartsville, Mo.; seven grandchildren, Kim, Mike, Jeff, Michelle, Brent, Lori and David; 12 great-grandchildren; four nieces, Shirley, Natalie, Donna and Linda; four nephews, Hap, Bill, Bruce and Reed; and many great-nieces and nephews.
The family suggests donations to the American Cancer Society or ministry of choice, in care of the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home, 214 Oak St., Bonner Springs KS 66012 (913) 422-4074.
