Source 1: Marjorie Schunk, Wordens Past, Vol. IV, No. 1, p. 118: Directions to locate original Worden land in Connecticut: "Apparently Dr. Sam bought 3 - 50 acre lots in North Stonington just over the R.I. line, above the right angle turn in the River, between Ashaway and Hopkington City . . . To reach the site, drive up Denison Hill Road until you come to the estate of Senator Dodd on left named 'Laural Lee' . . . just beyond on right, a watering hole for cattle, then a white gate on the old dirt road to R.I., no longer passable. Beyond that, the Worden, Palmeter, Lebbetus Coon land and a cemetery with rude fieldstone markers . . . none lettered.
"Lebbeus Coon m. a daughter of William Worden and his second wife. William inherited from Isaac and Isaac from Dr. Sam . . . so this has to be the original Worden homestead in Conn . . . purchased and settled 1708/9 and by 1787, only one Worden . . . Walter . . . left on the Stonington Tax list (he died in NY state). He left to his grandson, Clarke Worden, I think, but I never heard more about him."
