In 1828, a Samuel M. Worden sold blacksmith tools to John Bard (see land records at Dutchess County Courthouse)[1]

per June Goodrich Wilcha, this homestead was near Bulls Head Road and Clinton. In a letter from the Town of Milan historian, Norma Ingles, dated November 10, 1989, the suggestion is made that Samuel Montross' land may have bordered Wildey, Thorne or Herrick land, near the Town of Clinton line.

Samuel Montross was a widower when he married Katherine Southard. (Could he have been married to the Elizabeth Worden who died 1 Jan 1822 in Pleasant Valley, Dutchess County NY.? There is a reference at the First Presbyterian Church in Pleasant Valley, record "#12: 17 May 1812. Baptized adult, Elizabeth Worden, wife of Samuel Worden." But also see Samuel M. Worden, b. 1777 in Westchester County, died in 1839/1840 in Pleasant Valley; he may have been married to an Elizabeth who had a child Zaccheus b. about 1807, d. 1826 in Pleasant Valley.)[9][10]
