Isaac was born about 1786 in Virginia according to the 1850 census. He married Susannah Sullivant in 1799 with Russell Sullivant as bondsman in Caswell County, North Carolina. They had at least two children, Elias (Isaac and Susan are in his household in the 1850 census) and Joseph (he provided the information on his mother's death record). He passed away about 1850 in Boone County, Virginia (later West Virginia) after the census was taken..

In the marriage record to Isaac Workman, Susannah Sullivant's presumed brother Russell Sullivant is listed as a bondsman.
Isaac and Susannah may have had a daughter Phebe who married William Dotson as they are listed below Elias's household in the 1850 census.
