Biography

Anne Wathen was born on 18 January 1704/5 in Amesbury, Essex, Province of Massachusetts Bay, the daughter of Gorge [sic] and Anne (Annis) Wathen. [1]

As Anne Worthen she married David Tuexbrey at Amesbury on 10 March 1723/4.[2]

Her husband died sometime shortly before 25 Feburary 1769 when the inventory of his estate was taken.[3]

Anne survived her husband. On 24 March 1769, "Anne Tuxbury of Amsbury widow of David Tuxbury late of Amsbury dec'd" informed the probate court tat she was content with her late husband's will in regard to what he had given her. She signed by her mark.[4]

David Tuxbury of Amesbury, husbandman, wrote his will on 19 June 1764. It was proved on 24 April 1769. He named his wife Anne; granddaughter Anne Wells at age 18, daughter of David's late daughter Hannah Wells; daughters: Anne Colby wife of Moses in the parish of Hacke in New Hampshire; Mary Colby, widow of Ezekiel Coleby of Amesbury dec'd; Dorothy wife of Thomas Williams of Amesbury; Persilla Bartlet, wife of George Bartlet of the parish of Hack in New Hampshire; son David Tuxbbury; grandson Levi Well[s] at age 21, son of late daughter Hannah Wells; son Benjamin Tuxbury (executor). Witnesses were Isaac Merrill, Jacob Merrill, Matthias Merril.[3]

The children of David and Anne (Wathen) Tuxbury (names recorded and spelled as shown here) were born in Amesbury:[5] Their children were:

Unknown-523264 and Worthen-16 appear to represent the same person because: Anne Worthen, wife of David Tuxbury, was the mother of Priscilla Tuxbury who married George Bartlett.
