Biography

Nellie was born on 29 April 1892 in Rotherham, Yorkshire, England. She was the daughter of Paul Thomas Wortley and Ada (Parkin) Wortley.^[1][2]

Nellie, daughter of Paul Thomas and Ada was baptised June 22nd 1892 at Rotherham Minster. Her family lived at 64, Bethel Rd. Her father was a Blacksmith. Her brothers, Jabez (born Feb 2nd 1888) and Herbert (born Feb 4th 1890) were also baptised on the same day.

The 1939 register describes Nellie as being widowed, she later married. Given the fact that a Winifred May Wortley was also listed in the household it seems likely that Nellie was her mother.

In the 1901 census Nellie (age 8) was living in Rotherham, Yorkshire, England. With parents at home^[2]

In the 1911 census Nellie (age 18) was living in Shipley, Yorkshire, England. Domestic Servant 33 Moorhead Terrace, Shipley with Rowland Hinchliffe family (Drapers)^[3]
