Biography
Emma (Wren) Bateman was born in Sussex, England.
Emma Wren was born at East Grinstead, Sussex during 1842 to parents Mathias Wren & Mary Mitchell.[1] She was christened at East Grinstead on 4 September 1842.[2]
In 1851 Emma was 9 years old and living at Thornton Heath Aylett Place in Croydon, Surrey with her father Matthias Wren (52 of Hartfield, Sussex), mother Mary Wren (44 of East Grinstead), brother Frederick Wren (19 of East Grinstead), sister Ester Wren (14 of East Grinstead), sister Ellice Wren (14 of Croydon, Surrey). Mathias was working as a general dealer.[3]
In 1861 Emma was 18 years old and working as a domestic servant at Croydon.[4]
In 1881 Emma was 38 years old, single and working as a cook at the Kevil household on Eden Road in Lambeth, London.[5]
In 1891 Henry (57) & Emma (48) were living around Croydon, Surrey.[7]
In 1911 Henry (70 of Thirsk, Yorkshire) & Emma (68 of Forest Row, Sussex) were living at Thornton Heath, Surrey. They were listed as a police pensioners.[8]
Emma died in the Croydon district during 1922, aged 79.[9]
