Biography

Joseph Wright was born on October 14, 1663 in Chelmsford, Middlesex County, Massachusetts Bay Colony. His parents were John Wright and Abigail Warren. ^{[1] [2]}

He married Deborah Stevens by 1700 when their first child was born.

He died, probably in Dracut before May 1718 when his widow was approved as administratrix of his estate.^[3]

Probate

Deborah Wright widow, and Ephraim Hildreth husbandman, both of Dracut, made bond on administration of her husband's estate, that of Joseph Wright late of Dracut. Deborah was named as administratrix. An inventory of his estate was presented dated 1 May 1718, which included a house and land in Dracut, and land in Chelmsford. On an accounting dated 26 February 1723/4, she was called "Deborah (now ye wife of Jos. Colburn of Dracut)". In the division of property, dated 29 April 1726, Deborah was granted her "widow's thirds", two eldest sons Joseph & Jonathan agreeing to the division. One slip of paper in the file names six children in order of age: Joseph the eldest son, Jonathan, John a minor, and Robert also a minor; Deborah eldest daughter, Mary a minor.^[3]
