Biography

Juanella Wright Cash was born Dec. 15, 1930, in Boles, Idaho, the youngest child of Coral and Zelma Wright. She passed away Saturday, July 19, 2014, in Colville, Wash. She was 83.

Juanella married Roy Allen Cash in March 1947 in Lewiston, and they made their home farming on the Doumecq Plains of Idaho. They had two children, Carmen and Brett. The family moved to Kooskia in 1956, where Juanella worked at the Gilroy Grocery Store and ran the Wagon Wheel Motel, which she owned. In 1966, the family relocated to Inchelium, Wash., and then on to Ellensburg, Wash., in 1969, where Juanella went to work for Chevron Corporation. Juanella and Roy divorced in 1974. She later moved to Olympia, where she opened the South Sound Deli and shared her great cooking skills with the general public. She moved back to Kittitas, Wash., in the late 1980s and remained unmarried until her death.

Juanella loved the outdoors and remained an avid fly angler all of her life. She was a self-taught and accomplished carpenter and turned it into a fun hobby throughout her life. She also earned her pilot's license in her later years. Her life motto was, "Why let someone else do it when I can do it myself and probably do it better?" She was a wonderful cook and thoroughly enjoyed having visitors to her house so she could cook for them. We will all miss her delicious Christmas candy that she made every year.

She is survived by her children, Carmen Ensminger (Jim) of Loon Lake, Wash., and Brett Cash (Brandi) of Boise. Juanella loved spending time with, and hearing stories about, her grandchildren Brad, Jason, April, Rich, Blair, Harrison and Kathryn; and great-grandchildren Sierra, Orion, Morgan, Rebecca, Raquel and Crue; as well as her many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Chester, Lester, John, Gail, Bill and Darwin; and her sisters, Doris and Pauline.

A private graveside service for immediate family will be held at 10 a.m. Aug. 23 at the White Bird Cemetery.
