CPT Rufus Wright[2]
"By the onset of the War of 1812, Captain Rufus Wright had already been married for a number of years to his wife Hepsibath St. John and was the Father of many children. Following the war he returned to New York and then traveled to Ohio in 1816 and settled in what was then called Granger Village in Rockport Township, now the northeasterly part of Rocky River, Cuyahoga County, Ohio. Around 1816-1817 Captain Wright built Wright's Tavern on the western bluff overlooking the river. Since accessibility was a problem in 1821 he constructed the first bridge to span the Rocky River. It's location was in the vicinity beneath the present-day Detroit Avenue bridge.
In 1834 Captain Wright became postmaster of Granger Village and maintained that position for several years.
