DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with John by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with John:
I can trace my ancestry back to Mary Flanagan who is supposed to have had a daughter, Alice, born in Parramatta on11 Feb 1816 to John Wright. It is alleged that she had Alice 6 months after arrival as a convict in August 1815. This suggests she fell pregnant during the voyage. However, the website Australian Royalty says that John Wright was born in Parramatta in 1795 so probably wasn't on that convict ship.
Perhaps John Wright took Mary in and assumed fatherhood of Alice when she was sent to Parramatta?
