Biography

Aaron Wright was born at Concord, Massachusetts on November 26, 1755, son of Joseph and Rebecca (Heywood) Wright. [1] [2]

He married on February 23, 1782 at Concord, Hepzibah/Hipzabeth Meriam, [2] who was born at Concord on October 23, 1758, the daughter of Nathan Meriam and Abigail Wheeler. [3] [1]

Hepzibah died at the age of 35 at Concord on August 4, 1794.[1]

After her death, Aaron married second, Sarah Stratton on January 26, 1797 at Concord. [2] [1]

He died at the age of 85 on April 2, 1840 at Concord. [1] [2]

  • 1776: Private Capt. David Wheeler's Co., Col. Nixon's regimnt: pay abstract for mileage to and from camp dated Winter Hill Jan. 15, 1776; mileage for 30 miles allowed Aaron Wright. [5]
  • 1776: Private in Capt George Minott's Co., Col. Eleazer Brooks's Reiment; service 5 days, company marched from the alarm post at Concord March 4, 1776 to reinforce the army. [5]
  • 1776: Corporal in Capt. Joseph Hosmer's Light Infantry; company return endorsed 1776. [5]
  • 1777: On a list of men drafted from Concord's town company to go to Rhode Island on an alarm July 23, 1777. [5]
  • 1777: Private in Capt. John Buttrick's Co. of volunteers, Col. Reed's Regiment, enlisted Sept. 28, 1777; discharged Nov. 7, 1777; service 1 mo 11 days; at the time of taking Gen Burgoyne company detached from Col. Brooks's regiment to reinforce the army under Gen. Gates at the Northward; Col. Buttrick reported as serving as Captain. [5]
  • 1778: On lists of men appearing under the heading 'Hartwell Brook the first Everidge', Wright appears among men in service with Maj. Brown in 1778. [5]
